Oh, Alice! Chapter 40: "Hooka Are You?"

"Who are YOU?" said the Caterpillar.

This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation.

Alice replied, rather shyly, "I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then."

~Alice's Adventures in Wonderland,Chapter 5

Welcome to the mad world of Wonderland! Once again we are here to inspire you to create great things! The Caterpillar (Absalom) was the wisest creature in Wonderland. At least he thought so, and so did most of the others. He is a fascinating character because of his wisdom, and his lack of understanding metamorphosis. Kind of a weird oxymoron, don't you think?

Our challenge this week is to use either a caterpillar or a butterfly in your project. If you'd like to go one step farther, use a definition or dictionary paper in your design (any subject is fine).

If you are fortunate, you may find yourself wisely winning your choice of three 4x6 reprints from our sponsor, Maigan Lynn Beaudoin Shaw. FanTASTic!! Maigan is such a delightful artist, and the team appreciates the chance to work with one of her images!

Here is what I created using "Mad Fancy"...

Such a beautiful whimsical image! I created a 6x6 layout - I wanted to concentrate all of my colors mostly on my mer-Alice and incorporate only colors that I relate to Alice and Wonderland... I thought that the printed faded black DP and swirls would add to the whimsy feel of the image and story...
Sorry that the pic came out so bright, I was trying to get a good angle to show the sparkle that I added in...
I really love how it turned out, and hope that I can find the perfect frame to put it in :)

Remember, you have all week to play this challenge!
Link your project to the Oh Alice! Challenge blog by
midnight, Friday, November 19th to be entered in the drawing.

Happy creating!!!
And enjoy your weekend :*)

6x6 Layout Details:

Falling for The Greeting Farm's Farm Fresh Friday!

We made it through another glorious week ;) TGIF!!!
I'm still feeling icky, I have a sore throat and ear pain and probably could use some antibiotics, but they say that you shouldn't take meds every time you have an ear infection, etc. So I'm trying to be a trooper and just dealing with it ;) hee hee! We'll see how long I'll last!

It's time for another Scrapbook/Layout challenge with
The Greeting Farm's Farm Fresh Friday!!!
This month's theme is to create a Fall scrappy page :)

I couldn't make up my mind with which image out of 2 that I wanted to use, and then I found the perfect pics to go with them, so I just had to create 2 layouts! Woo Hoo! It's been 2 months since I've scrapped anything! Such a huge accomplishment for me :)

Here's my first layout, it's a 12x12...

This pic was taken 10/2008, it was a very hot Fall day, that's why they're wearing shorts and tees. I don't think pics this year will look like this one, lol! We've been wearing jeans and sweaters for almost 2 weeks now...
I used the sweet Archie and Marlene "Harvest" image with some of Cosmo Cricket's "Mr Campy" DP... I cut some of the leaves out from the DP and then added a few Primas and blooms to try to create the feel of 'falling leaves' which is my fave part of fall! I love the huge mess of leaves and colors all over the place - so beautiful and fun :)

Here's a closeup of the adorable couple!

For my next layout, I used some of my Cosmo Cricket's "Maltida" pad to create an 8x8 layout...

Aren't they both precious cuties?!
That's my lil guy, Matt, when he was 4 months old! The pumpkin hat I had purchased when I was preggo with Nick, but Nick grew too fast and never got to wear it! I'm happy that someone did, and boy, did he look adorable ;)

Lil "Toby Pumpkin" is so adorable!
I had SO much fun coloring him and his pumpkin costume!
I tried to give him a bit of a furry look, but it seems that I need a bit more practice ;)

Thanks for stopping by and for all your sweet comments :)

Please be sure to visit The Greeting Farm's Blog and see what the rest of the Critter Crew and Farmers created to inspire you to get your pics out and start scrapping!!! :*)

Play Hard! Drum Hard!

Happy Monday :)
I have really really really wanted to get into layouts again, especially for my boys pics! They're growing up so fast and I have yet to finish one of their books!
So, I have a quick layout to share today!

I discovered a layout challenge blog called...
Which was founded and run by the marvelous and ever so sweet Julie of Live with the Tucker and Wolek Family :)

Their current challenge theme is...

My current favorite band is my lil guy playing the drums!
He really has good rythm and really knows how to give a good show ;)

He clicks his drumsticks first and then counts - One, two, three, four... and then proceeds to play! He is a HUGE fan of Yo Gabba Gabba and just from listening, he knows how to play along to 2 songs!!!
We're definitely looking into some lessons for him in the Fall :)

I finally used some of my much horded BasicGrey DP - Archaic :)
and created this 12x12 of my lil Matt playing his set of drums!
{Thanks to Mama and Papa! Awesome b'day present!}

I love the quote that came with this set (botton right):
"It is a happy talent to know how to play" - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Wow, I just noticed that I didn't use any stamps at all! eek! ;) LOL!
Thanks for stopping by!!!

Do come back soon!
My blog-iversary was yesterday! Woo Hoo! 2 YEARS!!!
Some yummy blog candy is in the works ;)

PS!!!
I updated my {me} page so the journaling/writing is better to see...

Much better, don't ya think?! ;)

{me}

Art Journaling?! Really?! How brilliant!!!
Ky's new blog, "Art - It does a body good" is a blog for art jounal-ing challenges! I've been wanting to create a scrappy/artsy/journal/diary of myself for my kiddos and thought that this would be a fab way to finally get some pages done...

Here's how Ky explains it all:
"What's an art journal? It's anything in a book form that you use to create art. It can be a ring-bound sketch book, a composition book you've altered, a book you've hand bound and used recycled cardboard for pages, a novel you've converted...just about anything that resembles a journal! I prefer to see a story told in the pages, and sometimes that requires writing, but that's just a personal preference. You can choose the materials and techniques that suit you!"

The very first challenge is to create a journal page based on someone's interview (yes, you can do a page about yourself!)...

I interviewed myself ;) and here's what I came up with...

I did try to do some journaling around, but I did it in pink and it's not coming up very well in the pic... and I'm really not sure if I did this right - I'm guessing that anything goes as far as what art is, but I could be wrong...

My interview:
- I'm just me... my boys are my love and life forever (when I say 'my boys' that includes hubs too!}
- I LOVE pink and lacey things...
- I love to stamp...
- I'm never in pics! I'm either taking them or in the background...
- I chose a book that I cannot tear pages out of! I have a bit of an OCD problem and with the slightest mistake, I will start over - but this is about me, mistakes and all, smudges and mispellings too! {Yes, you will find them all on this page too!}

This is the book that I am using... I have been holding onto this book for over a year now wanting to do something like this! I want to find some fabric and paint to fix up the cover. I already have some pretty lace and flowers, I am really looking forward to getting this going as a momento to myself and hopefully, one day for my kids and grandkids :)

I don't have any paint nor too much supplies on hand at the moment, so I went with what I had on hand, which was my inks, pens, Washi Tape and stamps (The Greeting Farm and Unity)...

I used The Greeting Farm's Layout Sketch found here!

That's it for now! I hope you likey!
I look forward to trying to create some Saturday time just for me and my 'me book' :)

Thanks for looking and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

The Pixie's are Hopping for Twilight!!!

*Please scroll down to see this week's amazing recipe challenge at StampInsanity Stamps!
Thank You :)

"It's time, it's time!" for Pixie Dust Studio's
Twilight Saga Blog Hop!!!

First, this week's challenge #26 is...
"What Twilight Means To YOU!"

"Twilight means so many things to so many people - love, romance, Edward, sparkle... The association of colors - I will always relate the color combo of Red, White, Black (Silver) to Twilight... to you it may be all, some or none of these things! What's yours?! and if you are not a Twilighter {gasp!}, where did you draw your inspiration from? The trailers? Books? Colors? People like me who can't stop gushing about sparkling vampires ;) Whatever it is, we want to see your creations and here about how it came together!"

Our hop starts today (Thursday), June 10th, 8am CST
and will end Saturday, June 12th, Noon CST.

Challenge entries will be accepted through Wednesday, June 16th, 6pm CST.

Here is a small 6x6 layout that I created...
Yes! That is a silver doilie! Love it :)

My sister, Sarabeth, gave me some beautiful Twilight inspired 12x12 sheets, this one is called - Forks, Washington! I decided to take these sheets and cut them down to 6x6 to create another mini-album about the Twilight Saga. This will probably be the only page in this book to be based on Twilight since my other album is strictly about the first book/movie, the rest of the book I'll be concentrating on New Moon and Eclipse; especially since the other papers are called Vampire, New Moon and Eclipse, hee hee!

And yes, I'll be showing some puppy love soon enough... sigh...

So here's page one of many, many more ;)

"And so the lion fell in love with the lamb..."
~ Edward Cullen, Twilight, Chapter 13, page 274

Look at the new Eclipse images Kathy created!!!
Aren't they perfectly awesome?!
